Who is Ben Garchar?

Hello!

I’m an award-winning director and editor based in NYC who works fluidly between documentary and fiction, though I don’t understand any difference between the two.

Born in Ohio, I began my career under the mentorship of Oscar winners Julia Reichert and Steven Bognar. In the nearly two decades since, I’ve directed and edited shorts, features, branded content and just about everything in-between.

My collaborations have taken me around the globe, pairing me with audacious first-time filmmakers and seasoned veterans alike (totaling seven Oscar nominations and three wins), on films that have premiered at Sundance, SXSW, Tribeca, Hot Docs, Full Frame, and BAMcinemaFest (to name a few).
